Tech Crunch Celebration

Jason's work hosted the Tech Crunch Birthday party!
It happened to be held on one of the random Utah freezing cold summer days of the week. This was a celebration of the technology of the web and how far it has come these days. I mean really, what would most people do without facebook? That excludes me of course, but most people would not know what to do with any of their extra time!

There were big groupings of balloons lining the entire street- Beckam found them and played in them most of the time. I looked over at him once and found the entire grouping of balloons all completelly flat! Oops, time to move to a new area of the grass, kids!
How did he even do that without actually popping them?

The food occupied the kids rather well- I was freezing cold and trying to snuggle with Brooklyn for some body heat, not that she had much to give.

The party would not have been the same without the man in the very attractive orange suit!

Brooklyn and I were sword fighting to pass time and keep warm.

The live band was really good and recently got a contract to make their own album.

Beckam was playing so nicely by himself, it was cute because he was he talking to himself and concentrating on whatever he was drawing- so, I took a picture!

Then, he heard the camera beep and he looked up and smiled for me! It's like Pavlov's dogs- the beep goes off and a smile instantly follows. Funny!

We met up with Jeni, Bria, and Eric at the Dinosaur Museum for a little outing. It ended up being too cold outside to see the gardens, so we ended up at the museum to stay inside.
They all played so well together and had a lot of fun!

A Swimming Update

Check out the improvement they have been making with their swim lessons!
You can see Brooklyn is diving under the water to get a pink-colored ring...thank goodness it was pink or I don't think the instructor could have gotten her to go for it. ;)

Now here is little man putting his whole face in the water and learning to do a float. Brooklyn is obviously having a blast!

They would jump in and go immediately under water. When they come up, their hands go right to their eyes to rub the water out. They are doing a great job!!

Brooklyn is learning to do a 'super man' on her back and Beckam is driving with his pretend steering wheel- but with a smile on his face!

Beckam went through the loop on his back (being pulled by the instructor of course, but he did it!) His little arms are kind of too small to reach very far over his head still, so this is an especially hard move for him to master.
Overall, they are loving it and learning a lot, and begging me to take them back to swimming lessons.

Congratulations Graduate!

Jason, Tyler, Uncle Mark

We attended Mary's High School graduation in Park City. Woo-hoo! Way to go Mary!

We all ran onto the football field to take pictures, and where were my kids? Off tackling each other in the middle of the field.

Swim Lessons :)

Brooklyn and Beckam start swimming lessons!
They weren't sure if they wanted to go in the water, so I had to get in with them the first few times -but once I was in, they were good to go.

Here he is braving up the courage to get in by himself.

His first day, he just sat on the side and watched his sister go off into the big blue pool. He loves the water, but wasn't sure why he had to get in with a stranger. Day #2 was much better and by day #3 I didn't have to get in with them anymore.

Brookyn floating on her back. She is doing such a good job. She has picked on everything pretty quickly and looks forward to jumping in that water!

Beckam's turn! He went willingly with the instructor and allowed her to teach him what he was supposed to learn. Every once in a while he would look back at me to make sure I was still there or to smile at me because he did a trick in the water. It has been so fun to watch them learn survival skills in the water. I would see their little faces concentrating so hard to try something new, then they did it and were so proud of themselves. I think I just sit there grinning from ear to ear as I watch them.

This is the one time he looked back at me and cried for my attention, but before I got to him he was fine again so, he finished his lesson.

This is the beginning stages of becoming pool-safe! They have already learned so much. Bath-time now consists of showing me tricks they have learned at swimming lessons.

A Funny Youth Activity

I don't intend to blog a lot of our youth activities, but this one was a riot!
It was 'dress up like a rock star' karaoke night...and what do we all think of when we think of rock star? the 80's of course, so that's what most of us tried to emulate.

All the leaders

Some of the young men...I just had to laugh of course.

You can only guess what song they are singing along to right?
YMCA, baby!

The Lamb and Wool Festival

We geared up and went to the Lamb and Wool festival. It was right down the street so we thought we'd give it a try.
We got some Navajo tacos (Yum!), but it was so freezing cold outside that we hid inside the pretend ol' ballet studio to get out of the wind- and there we sat and ate. Kids were walking by us staring at us through the windows.

Here's the star of the show himself, Mr. Lamb.
His "groomer" was shaving off his wool coat with electric razors, then showed us how they used to do it back in the day with cutting shears. You can see his wool just laying across the ground.
I was surprised to see how good the lamb's were when they had to get shaved. My own kids don't sit that still.

Beckam's reaction to the lamb- he just wanted to pet it.

Brooklyn's reaction to the lamb

...and look at grandma's face in reaction to the lamb. So funny!

My little snuggle-bear being snuggly (or maybe just freezing)

I think these guys are so funny looking. I have to laugh every time!

Look how sweet this mommy is watching over her baby! She stood directly over her baby the entire time that it slept, and as soon as it woke up the mommy hugged it with her neck and turned her body in just the right position for the baby to eat. They both just knew exactly what to do- and the mom knew exactly how to comfort her baby with all these people around. It was tender!

Monga and Papa on the wagon ride...a very cold, cold ride.

Uncle Steele and Brooklyn

Aunt Amanda and Aunt Ciera

Brooklyn loved the conveyor belt with all the fake produce.
She wouldn't let go of her little box with celery, cucumbers, and strawberries inside.

Brooklyn catching all the cards at the end of the conveyor belt.

Jaden and Brooklyn just doing a little grocery shopping.

Here is Beckam as the animal whisperer

I think this is the same animal that gave Beckam a little head-butt and it scared him half to death. He thinks animals are the kindest and coolest things in the world- and one bonked him on the head. It hurt his feelings more than it actually hurt him.

Off to dinner!

We came home from a long day for yet another dance in the kitchen, cookies, and ice cream.

Seeing Steele dance just had to be caught on camera!
At least his wife can help him out now :)
